Richie McGrath was born in Newburgh,
New York in 1943. He is a self taught
wood carver that has been perfecting
his craft since 1995.
Richie has been competition
carving in various states and is most
notorious for his fish carvings. Among
the many ribbons he has been awarded,
most notable is the Second Place
ribbon for 2 consecutive years in
salt water fish in the Pacific
Southwest.
While competing in the National
Fish Carving Championships
in Davenport, Iowa Richie
was presented with 3 Second
Place ribbons and a Third
Place ribbon in various
groups in 2006. Richie
has achieved 60 ribbons
in the past ten years.
Richie belongs to three
carving groups in the Carolina’s,
one of which he has started in Myrtle Beach.
